Grandparents Activities

Summer Vacations

One of the fondest memories I had as a child involved seeing some of the greatest sights this country has to offer. My grandfather and step-grandmother took us on several family vacations in which we went to places like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, and Carlsbad Caverns.

Although I was rather young when I went on all these trips, it still helped to shape me by showing me some of the wonders of the natural world.

Christmas Dinners

Christmas is always a family-oriented event. Christmas evening always used to involve my grandmother coming over, having dinner, all of us going to the evening church service, and then returning home to open some presents. Family is always an important part of anyone's life, and having my grandmother involved in these special holidays made them more special.

But thankfully I never got a bunny suit.

Christmas Mornings

Christmas mornings for us involved my grandmother coming over for lunch and my half-sister visiting. Christmas always made for nice visits with my grandmother, though. We always loved having her around, and she had one of the craziest senses of humor. You just wished everyone knew her.

Thanksgiving dinners and lunches

For Thanksgiving, it usually involved the same crew we had for Christmas, the brother, the parents, and the grandmother. My grandfather and his wife were in Washington State, so they never came down for holidays. Still though, just as for Christmas, Thanksgiving gave us time to spend with our grandmother. She was such an amazing woman that any time we could spend with her, we thoroughly enjoyed.
