Special Effects
As far as the special effects go, what do we witness? First and foremost, we witness a lock on a window open itself. Then two windows blow open from huge winds. Through the open windows we see a green glow and dust blowing in. Then the sheets covering the kids in the movie are thrown off by an invisible force. Cut to when the parents get home, and we see the house walls and doors sliced into, starting at the door and heading all the way up to the kids' room. And finally, toward the end of the scene, we see a dagger shoved in the doorway, with a ransom note attached.
These SFX have not only brought a cartoon to real life, but have also changed the family image of Peter Pan and his generally upbeat story to a darker, more sinister approach. This kind of change can be dramatic for a child, as it was for me.
