Spider-man 3 and Blade 2 - The Faults

As you can see starting at about 0:53 of this final fight footage from the movie Blade 2, the digital artists try to make the impacts of the punches and throws more profound and dramatic, but instead defy logic. I'm not the one to sit here and say 'It's not life-like!!' because seriously, it's a movie about vampires and a vampire-killer, reality ain't my beef.

Instead my problem is that Wesley Snipes is quick and hits hard in this movie, he's still not as speedy as Jet Li or some of the other kung-fu speedsters out there. Because of this, there's an incontinuity between how fast Blade (Wesley Snipes) and his villain fight and the speed of the throw and subsequent jump at around time 1:16. I would dare say the word 'un-realistic', but only in the sense that 'realistic' would apply to something that makes a little more sense, even though Blade is a 'half-vampire' daywalker.

 

 

Spiderman's issues are that, while the animation is really good, they cut from computer animated sequences to live-action from time to time, accentuating the fact that what we just saw was fake. A good example of this is the scene in the beginning of the movie where Spider-Man 3 is thrown into the wall (obviously CGI), and then the scene is cut to live-action and you can tell they are in a studio.

 

 

 

Bad CGI can turn a possibly good film into a particularly bad one fairly quickly in my eyes. Perhaps I focus too much on the visual and audio more than the content itself.
