Christmas

Page history last edited by John 16 years, 5 months ago

Christmas was always an awesome time of year. I mean seriously, who would hate awesome food and free toys?!

One of the biggest undertakings as a family during Christmas was the decorations.

My mom would, for some reason, feel like putting as many decorations up as possible, and we lived on a street full of snotty people, with maybe one or two decorations. Our house was similar to the house in the above video, as we had the icicle lights all over, plus reindeer, a life-size sled (YES, LIFE SIZE!!), a life-size Santa (No, I don't know how big he was.. but my mom seemed to have a good idea), and various other lights strewn around the house.

Yeah, my brother and I loved it *insert sarcasm*

Still though, it helped bring about the Christmas spirit, and made the holiday season that much more about family. By having my grandmother over and, when I was younger, my half-sister, it brought about a nice group to have Christmas with. We never get to see my sister now, which is a shame, but makes those moments as a kid when she was around all the more special, and the times I get to see her now even more-so.

All in all, christmas time made for some more family bonding, and pushed me to be more involved with family, and those I consider family.

Still though, the best family memories I will ever have involve waking up Christmas morning as a kid, waking up my brother, my sister, and my parents, and waiting for my parents to get the presents that Santa had left us. Once they called to us, we ran downstairs and into the living room to see all the toys we had been left.

Good times, though I never got that official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle..
